See distance as a circle around the Earth

GlobePlot is an interactive radius map for exploring straight-line distance from a city. Choose a starting city, enter a radius in miles or kilometers, and see the distance line wrap accurately around the globe. Unlike tools that only list places inside a circle, GlobePlot reveals the cities closest to the circle's edge.

01 / CHOOSE

Start from a city

Search nearly 20,000 starting cities worldwide. Your selected city becomes the center of the radius.

02 / MEASURE

Set any Earth-scale distance

Enter a distance in miles or kilometers. The globe shows the shortest surface distance in every direction—not driving time.

03 / DISCOVER

Find cities on the edge

Adjust the tolerance and population filters to discover which cities sit at approximately the same distance from your origin.

HOW PEOPLE USE GLOBEPLOT

A different kind of distance-from-me map

Explore how far a distance reaches from your city, compare faraway places, visualize the scale of countries and continents, or answer questions such as “which cities are about 2,700 miles from Seattle?” GlobePlot is designed for geographic discovery, travel inspiration, teaching, and curiosity.

How do I draw a radius on the map?

Choose a starting city, select miles or kilometers, and enter a radius. GlobePlot updates the globe and city results automatically.

Does the radius account for Earth's curvature?

Yes. GlobePlot draws a great-circle radius across the globe rather than treating the world as a flat surface, so long distances and routes across the date line display correctly.

Does GlobePlot show cities inside the radius?

GlobePlot specializes in cities near the radius line—the circle's edge. The tolerance setting controls how close a city must be to count as a match.

Is this driving distance or travel time?

No. The map shows straight-line surface distance, sometimes called “as the crow flies.” Roads, terrain, borders, and travel time are not included.
